A mama killdeer has chosen an unusual place to build her nest this year at a local campground. She had decided that the perfect spot to nest is amongst the gravel beside the dump station. Lucky for her the dump station is rarely used and most people don�t even know she is there as she is really well camouflaged.
A little about me: I was born and raised in California and Oregon so being outdoors was always an important part of my life. My family and I used to camp all up and down the California and Oregon Coast as soon as I was old enough to camp at the age of 4. The beauty of nature was a form of inspiration and healing to me and still is to this day. On our camping trips I made it a point to talk with the rangers at the visitor's centers and to learn about the native wildlife and plant life and even insect life of an area. Whenever I saw a new bird it was an exciting quest to find the name of the bird in our bird guide.
