Winter in the Shenandoah Valley is often devoid of color but if we are lucky enough once in a blue moon we get a rainbow or even a double rainbow like these over the town of Luray, Virginia in the winter of January 2015.
A little about me: I was born and raised in California and Oregon so being outdoors was always an important part of my life. My family and I used to camp all up and down the California and Oregon Coast as soon as I was old enough to camp at the age of 4. The beauty of nature was a form of inspiration and healing to me and still is to this day. On our camping trips I made it a point to talk with the rangers at the visitor's centers and to learn about the native wildlife and plant life and even insect life of an area. Whenever I saw a new bird it was an exciting quest to find the name of the bird in our bird guide. My parents were not professional photographers but they planted the photography seed in me through example. I still...
