My mother in law gave us this flower years ago as an indoor Christmas gift. It bloomed and then despite my careful effort of doing everything the instructions said to coax it into blooming again never bloomed again. I thought it had died and I just sort of tossed the bulb in a flower bed next to our garage and forgot about it. I didn't even bury it, I literally just tossed it in the corner of the flower bed. To my surprise a year later it bloomed! And it has bloomed faithfully every year ever since. Since my mother in law has passed away a few years ago, when it blooms, it is a beautiful reminder of the beautiful kind soul that she was who touched our lives while she was here with us.
About Lara Ellis
A little about me: I was born and raised in California and Oregon so being outdoors was always an important part of my life. My family and I used to camp all up and down the California and Oregon Coast as soon as I was old enough to camp at the age of 4. The beauty of nature was a form of inspiration and healing to me and still is to this day. On our camping trips I made it a point to talk with the rangers at the visitor's centers and to learn about the native wildlife and plant life and even insect life of an area. Whenever I saw a new bird it was an exciting quest to find the name of the bird in our bird guide. My parents were not professional photographers but they planted the photography seed in me through example. I still...
