I got a couple of shots of this handsome bird a couple of days before I shot this one. I thought he had gone as they are birds that are usually just passing through. I was thrilled when I saw him again. I ran for my camera and walked out on our deck and tip toed towards him where he was perched in a near by tree. He was totally un-phased by my presence and even seemed to pose for me. I suppose when you are that good looking of a bird you are used to the paparazzi attention!

A little about me: I was born and raised in California and Oregon so being outdoors was always an important part of my life. My family and I used to camp all up and down the California and Oregon Coast as soon as I was old enough to camp at the age of 4. The beauty of nature was a form of inspiration and healing to me and still is to this day. On our camping trips I made it a point to talk with the rangers at the visitor's centers and to learn about the native wildlife and plant life and even insect life of an area. Whenever I saw a new bird it was an exciting quest to find the name of the bird in our bird guide. My parents were not professional photographers but they planted the photography seed in me through example. I still...
