This is one of the many beautiful vistas that can be seen from Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park near Luray, Virginia. This view is looking towards the east. It's hard to believe that about an hour or so away our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. and all of the urban areas that lead up to it.

A little about me: I was born and raised in California and Oregon so being outdoors was always an important part of my life. My family and I used to camp all up and down the California and Oregon Coast as soon as I was old enough to camp at the age of 4. The beauty of nature was a form of inspiration and healing to me and still is to this day. On our camping trips I made it a point to talk with the rangers at the visitor's centers and to learn about the native wildlife and plant life and even insect life of an area. Whenever I saw a new bird it was an exciting quest to find the name of the bird in our bird guide. My parents were not professional photographers but they planted the photography seed in me through example. I still...
