Beautiful capture!

Lara Ellis replied:

thanks Michael :-) we were lucky enough to be at the edge of the Hurricane instead of in it so we didn't get any damage thank goodness!

Thank you for allowing me to feature this on my site. It visually documented my post and have allowed me and others to see it from your perspective. Great photo!

Lara Ellis replied:

You are so welcome Lyn! I'm honored to have my work painted by you again!

Ahhhhhhh..................you just made me "home"sick. I don't know if I've mentioned in other comments to you or not that my screen name on some message boards is Shenandoah. I saw this in JC's thread and had to come check it out larger. I can't wait for my October vacation. I always love your Blue Ridge photos.

Lara Ellis replied:

Glad I was able to give you a peek at your other home Francie. Do you Vacation up around skyline drive? we can see skyland from our house across the mountains.

Artist's Description

We live pretty far inland (about 5 hours from the beach) but Hurricane Irene is so large that we could see the outer bands of this monster all the way out in the blueridge mountains! The body of water reflecting the sky is the Shenandoah river.

The beauty of nature was a form of inspiration and healing to me and still is to this day. On our camping trips I made it a point to talk with the rangers at the visitor's centers and to learn about the native wildlife and plant life and even insect life of an area. Whenever I saw a new bird it was an exciting quest to find the name of the bird in our bird guide. My parents were not professional photographers but they planted the photography seed in me through example. I still...
