This curious doe allowed me to get extremely close to her on skyline drive in the Shenandoah National Park. She wasn't afraid of me at all. The wildlife in the Park are very used to people which is wonderful for a photographer looking for a wildlife shot. I'm so greatful for for our National Parks, not only are they a wonderful place for us humans to remember our connection with nature but they are an important protected home for a wide variety of wildife like these white-tailed deer.

A little about me: I was born and raised in California and Oregon so being outdoors was always an important part of my life. My family and I used to camp all up and down the California and Oregon Coast as soon as I was old enough to camp at the age of 4. The beauty of nature was a form of inspiration and healing to me and still is to this day. On our camping trips I made it a point to talk with the rangers at the visitor's centers and to learn about the native wildlife and plant life and even insect life of an area. Whenever I saw a new bird it was an exciting quest to find the name of the bird in our bird guide.
