After parking my car at the safeway parking lot I heard a familiar squeak, it was the high pitched call of the Anna's hummingbird. As I searched for the sound, I discovered that one of those pine cones whasn't a pine cone in the landscaping but this fesity little male Anna's hummingbird. Nature is all around us, we just have to stop and observe and listen.
About Lara Ellis
A little about me: I was born and raised in California and Oregon so being outdoors was always an important part of my life. My family and I used to camp all up and down the California and Oregon Coast as soon as I was old enough to camp at the age of 4. The beauty of nature was a form of inspiration and healing to me and still is to this day. On our camping trips I made it a point to talk with the rangers at the visitor's centers and to learn about the native wildlife and plant life and even insect life of an area. Whenever I saw a new bird it was an exciting quest to find the name of the bird in our bird guide.
